To quote something I said to someone else in a similar context (slightly adjusted - marked by brackets),
Quote:
I can't help but be suspicious of someone trying to make money off paranoia connected with [an allegedly negative thing]. Presumably, if an author had authoritative / reliable information about a conspiracy, s/he would be more than willing to provide that information to the public (who should know) for free.
Alleging that someone like Google is breaking the terms of their privacy policy is worthless unless it is in a complaint lawsuit.

I like google

I like google, use desktop search all the time, never messed up my computer because my computer does not suck. I do not believe google is selling my private information, (They did'nt give over millions of users search history to the government did they?) I hate microsoft and believe Google is getting more powerful to help stay in business ,with the internet powered vista operating system coming out early 2007, microsoft may get a good advantage over google. Microsofts sales are going down. I hate microsoft. I only use it because it is very widly supported by freeware. If not for that I would be on a mac right now. I hope no one gives me any of that "you only hate microsoft because bill gates is richer than you..." crap. I'm tired of seeing that. I don't mind bill gates. I like to consider him as a cool old nerdy dude trynna have some fun, he recently handed his position over to some other dude so now we have someone else to pick on >

scorpio370 is an unknown quantity at this point
Bill Gates? He hasn't yet. He's going to reliquish some of his duties, not all. From what I understand, he'll still be somewhat active in the company, but less than before. It will be a couple years before he's done with transferring duties. He's supposed to be going to focus more on his philinthropic (sp?) company.

Google says it doesn't work with governments to the public (Chinese and USA and etc.).. in actuality it does. There is a good book out there about Google and it tells you how Google has deceptively use their PR campaign to spread false information (The Search: How Google and Its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture). Let me put it this way... if Google is a prviate company, then it will be free from ... many regulations. But still tough if you are a US company. Especially if you are a public traded company, then you must be in compliance with US laws 100%. Since 9/11, the patriot act has allowed the government to ask MIcrosoft, Yahoo and including Google like sites for information, because of the possibility of terroist information. Google does search and take your informaiton if you have their programs installed on your desktop, if you read their pages of terms carefully, you will realize that they double talk to make sure when you clicked on "yes" and installed the software you are voluntarily given up information for them to collect. Do you think Google can provide free lunch to everyone make billions dollars a year? Google sells a false vision and they claim they are pure, but in reality Yahoo and MSN are much better companies, because they do not pretend to be anything but companies who make money in what they do. They also are very honest in the information that they provide. They do not sugar coat or tell you one thing and do something else against users. I am just telling it as it is and if you have read the book that I recommended above, you will see how evil Google is. best, Frank
