Google desktop - Is it really THAT cool???

I just wanted to see what you all thought about the Google desktop program. I used it for a bit and I wasn't too impressed. Does it take that much memory b/c it's always running in the background?

I think it's just a waste of space and time. I had it for about 2 hours.

What does it do? I thought i heard that it just makes it easier to search for things on your computer.

Probably just another way to spy on us.

Google makes money by collecting information. First they get you to use G-mail so they can track your email tendencies with its content, now they want to get on to your personal PC to collect your info. Yes, it is totally a spyware. Except they think they can get away with it because it got the name Google.

I have several Gmail accounts. And for me to move them all, would take lots of time. I have the MSN Beta, and really like what I'm seeing on the email portion, and the messenger needs work, but it's cool.
Google is getting a little to powerful and needs someone to knock them down a notch or three.

I do not discourage anyone from making money from Google. If you can, all power to you. But do watch out for their utilities designed to spy on you. It is kind of crazy just thinking about it. Thank you all for your support.

Hi,

Google desktop or the messanger whatever it is called is cool.
At least I prefer it more than MSN messanger. However if you do not need
it is is waste of memory... I had uninstalled it but found it very useful to chat
with friends living abroad...
